Veterans’ heroism continues to be source of inspiration for Filipinos– Gov. Joet

Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III urged on Monday the Filipino people to continue.drawing inspiration from the heroic acts of World War II veterans who fought gallantly and sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom and democracy.

Speaking before a group of living war veterans during the 81st commemoration of “Araw ng Kagitingan” on top of the Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor, the governor said it was the thousands of fallen heroes of the fierce battle in Bataan against the invaders that set the pace for growth and progress of the nation.

“It is the same place where the battle occurred then,” he reminded the veterans.

He recalled that in 1973, now President Marcos’ father Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. built the 2-kilometer San Juanico Bridge.

“Now, the son President Bongbong will put up the 32-kilometer bridge that will bring more prosperity to Central Luzon and Southern Luzon, the progressive regions in the country today,” Gov. Joet explained.
